Welcome to our first family blog. Here's what we have been up to the past month or so. Every February brings a father's most dreaded occasion...the daddy-daughter dance. Actually, it's really a daughter dance supervised by dads who are standing around stuffing their faces with all kinds of goodies like pizza, Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets, deserts of all flavors and lemonade.
Camden always has a blast. Luckily, she always wears out before the nine o'clock finale so it's a relatively short affair for us.
Andrea and I finally celebrated Valentines day on February the 27th with a dinner at Macaroni Grill and a little shopping. The dinner was absolutely wonderful and, since we were using a gift card I got for my birthday from Michelle and Scott, we even ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. They were the best mozzarella sticks I have ever had. The "complemetary" bread and olive oil dip was also great. You may think it's weird that we went shopping for the rest of the date but it's a lot easier to shop for yourself without kids around. Anyway, we were able to spend some time together without the kids and that was nice.
Tristan is growing like a weed and loves going to his preschool. He's always in such a good mood when I pick him up there. He loves to run back and forth across the room and throw himself on the floor like a stuntman. Of course most of you know he loves balls. He can throw them, catch them and kick them. In fact, he can even drop kick a ball. All of these things are cool but it can be quite hazzardous when he throws one at your head when your not looking.
Justin,
Can you believe it after all these years? There wasn't even an internet last time I saw you, now we can connect just by looking up each others names. In this case, though, Sandi sent me the link to your site, but it is still an incredible thing. She has kept me posted for several years now on your goings-on by email, and I'm glad you are doing well. I got remarried a few years after you left the cabin and had been living between there and my wife's house in Phoenix for several years. The last 10 years we have been in Fort Lauderdale where I was a 737 captain in Miami, although now I am flying the 777 out of Chicago to places like Tokyo and Shanghai. Down here we go boating and kayaking a lot, and the cabin is an even better place to hang out for the summer. I built a garage, a log cabin out of the dead trees right on my property, and I had an addition put on the cabin 3 years ago, so now it is about 1200 sf. Send me your email and I'll send you some pics. It's fun reading your blog (and Eric and Laura's too). Someday I'll make one, but have been too busy for too long. If you're ever in Colorado look me up. You can check out the place - Eric and Laura came by a few years ago - surprise visit!
Take care,
Tom Kempf
